Examples of Employer Tricks
- Giving you two checks on payday, one is real, one is a phony check with dues taken out of it. Employers will claim that unions take out huge sums per paycheck in dues. NEMSA dues are low and average about $30 per month.
- Passing out a mock check that shows how much dues you will pay as a group each year.
- Bringing in a basket of groceries with a label: "This is what you can buy with one year of union dues."
So instead of tricks and deceptions, let's have a talk about union dues....

Approximately 98% of dues money returns directly to the members in the form of representation.
Remember that you will not pay any dues until you win a contract. Then and ONLY then your dues will be calculated based on two times the hourly average wage for your bargaining unit.
