Isn't that the truth. Heads up all, the gestapo tactics of management are still in full swing. It was reported to me that they are now harassing people at home. They are saying that you "Have to come in" and talk about the union. This is an illegal act and you don't have to stand for it. One brave employee drew a line in the sand this morning. He told them that he was not willing to talk to them about the union. He told them that he felt "threatened and intimidated" yet the pushed the issue. Finally he just said NO! You too have this power. You do not need to be locked in a room, out numbered by management, and be forced to listed to their anti union propaganda and intimidation. This fight is only going to get uglier. I am sure that the next mandatory meeting will be intended to scare us into a NO vote. They claim that with a union there will not be flexibility. How flexible are they now? Were they flexible when they forced you into that room? Were they flexible when it was unsafe to take an out of town transport on bad roads? Were they flexible the last time you or your child were sick? You probably had to get your shift covered and then owed someone hours. How flexible have they been with paying overtime? Remember last year when 5 medics quit? Remember being forced to work 60+ hrs a week? I sure do. How did they calculate our back overtime? Did you recieve a record of hours worked, or a check for a lump sum. Mine said I had worked 1 hour at a rate of $346.43/hr. How is this correct?
The National EMS Association (NEMSA) is a registered Labor Union and California Not-For-Profit association that represents EMS Professionals around the USA. NEMSA is the only 100% EMS union in the United States. NEMSA is not affiliated with any "big-tent" unions like IAEP, SEIU, Teamsters, or others and thus pays no affiliation fees. Instead NEMSA is a registered not-for-profit. Strict rules require NEMSA to manage itself in an efficient and effective way. Independent observers have claimed NEMSA has the best EMS contracts for private EMS workers in the USA.
NEMSA offers superior, aggressive, and fair representation to it's members. Labor contracts are negotiated by an experienced labor attorney and member-led teams.
